Payment Types Accepted: Cashiers check Description: Griffin Howe Springfield1903 30 .06 this is a beautiful gun with an amazing history  it has a serial number of 101 in 1935  Bruce Allen businessman sportsman and big game hunter went on a hunting expedition in Kodiak island Do you hunt for the Kodiak brown bear in his hunting expedition there was a photographer  and a hunting guideSo on this hunting trip Bruce and killed the largest beer ever and Kodiak island world record with an amazing shot the bear was running across an open area between the trees at 350 yards he shot four times and hit the beer twice and then the BearRolledll down the side of the hillin  to a little creek bed the  Bear measure at #11’ feet 3 inches.  then Bruce Allen had it mounted standing on its hind legs he donated it to Marshall Fields department store in Chicago where it was on display till 1950s on the fourth floor was the sporting good section Where you could purchase guns and get your own expedition to Kodiak island with their HuntingGuides until the 1970s  for the generosity of Bruce Allen hundreds of thousands of kids and adults had a chance to view this giant Kodiak bear who said there’s no such thing as monsters ha ha  there is a full story told by the people that went on this hunting expedition it was in a magazine called the Alaskan in 1936 April edition they have on file in the library in Alaska  and there was a new show in Chicago in the 80s where they were talking about the bear in the department store and Bruce Allen and the rifle you can Google that  there’s a lot of rifles out there and collectors but there’s not a lot of rifles with this kind of history so if you want to  call me the pictures didn’t come out real good but I can send you more if you are interested two on this one of a kind rifle it should probably be in a museum Thank you.  in my pictures section you can read the article that was in the magazine  SOLD Manufacturer: Springfield 1903 Griffin howe Model: Sporting rifle Serial Number: # 101 Caliber Info: 30.06 Bore: Excellent Condition: Excellent Metal Condition: Excellent Wood Condition: Excellent Bore Condition: Excellent Action: Bolt Finish: Blue Sights: Open Manufacture Date: 1903 Extras: Many upgrades Item Location: California
