Shipping is actual cost with a minimum of $30.00 for pistols and $50.00 for rifles/shotguns to ship to most of the 48 contiguous states. Shipping to Alaska may require an extra fee. Description:
This is very nice custom bench rest rifle, based on the famous M1903A3 action. According to remingtonsociety, the original rifle left the Remington factory in October of 1943. Postwar, the rifle was sold onto the civilian market and was later taken to a local, well-known gunsmith by the name of Carl Stover located in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. He customized it, replacing the original barrel with a massive 26.5-inch long, 1.25-inch thick heavy target barrel. The receiver was re-blued to match the barrel. A Mark II safety replaced the original factory safety. A heavy-duty thumbhole stock was added. This features a very thick pistol grip with finger grooves. A classic Unertl 1.5-inch target scope has been installed. Magnification is 20x. Included are a pair of screw in scope covers. A Timney-style trigger has been installed, resulting in the rifle having a very light trigger pull. It gives the impression the pull weight could be measured in ounces rather than pounds. There is some slight micro-pitting towards the front end of the barrel. These are also present towards the front of the scope. A few light scratch marks are present on the right side of the barrel underneath the front of the scope. Bluing is still present, however. Other, than some slight dings in the right side, the stock is in extremely good condition. The bore is in exceptional condition – very bright with no rust or pitting. This rifle would make a perfect bench rest rifle.
