Only about 4000 contracted for by the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. 7 ½” octagon barrel with Remington address and 1858 patent date. U.S. Navy “ANCHOR” inspection stamped at the breech of the top flat. Ordnance sub inspection stamps on the appropriate parts. Old later blue finish mixed with even patina. Shows moderate wear consistent with a Sea Service revolver. Excellent original grips with visible U.S. Navy Ordnance Inspector’s cartouche with the script initials “CSC” stamped within for Lt.
