PITTSBURGH Antique Pennsylvania LONG RIFLE
POSTLEY, NELSON & Co. Barrel HENRY PARKER Lock
Here we present an antique Half Stock American Long Rifle, made circa 1860. This rifle would have been an essential tool on the Frontier. This rifle features a 36-inch octagonal barrel in .40 caliber, a good all around game-getter. The lock is marked “HENRY PARKER/WARRANTED”. The barrel is marked by Postley Nelson & Co. near the muzzle, which was a company making gun barrels, as well as tools, in Pittsburg, PA between 1850 and 1875.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a mottled gray patina. The markings are clear and legible. The maple stock has seen much use. The bore is in good shape with nice rifling. The action is strong.
