Original Sharps Civil War carbine with post war Government conversion to 50-70 central fire metallic cartridge.
All original. Fine condition. NEW MODEL 1863 on barrel. Bore in fine condition. Lock mechanics excellent. C SHARPS PAT OCT 5th 1852 on lock. W S LAWRENCE PAT APRIL 12th 1859 also on lock. Metal parts smooth with age patine. Nice oil finished walnut stocks. Correct folding rear sight. Serial number identifies this carbine was issued to SAMUEL BUTLER, Co. B 10th Illinois Cavalry. Historical information included with this gun about History of the 10th Illinois Cavalry and Trooper Samuel Butler.
Converted Sharps cabines issued to cavalry units servivg in the American West after the Civil War. Wonderful piece of American history. Fine condition overall. Not warranted safe to shoot due to being an antique.
