Colt Metropolitan Police (Wash- D-C.) Lightning .38 Long Colt caliber revolver. Backstrap very nicely inscribed “ Metropolitan Police Dept .D.C” Bore is excellent, action works perfectly. Gun has 93-95% original factory nickle. No buggered screws. Grips show handling wear but no cracks or chips. This was an order by the D.C. Police for Colt to produce several hundred. These Metropolitan Police (D.C. Police) guns are hard to find and are a very good variation for a Lightning/Thunderer collector. There is a “star” on the rear of the trigger guard indicating factory work of some kind. The nickel is perfect and correct as we have sold approximately 5 over the last 50 years. The star in this case was for the special factory engraved backstrap.
