Description:
This 1974 Colt Gold Cup National Match 1911 is a beautiful example and in excellent all-original condition.  It comes with the original Styrofoam box inserts and warranty card but no outer box.  It was bought new in 1975 and shot very little and was extremely well cared-for.  The Gold Cup National Match was Colt's finest production 1911.  This 70 Series gun was hand fit and assembled with extreme attention to detail with the goal of building a top quality competition 1911 that would win matches.  Colt used the best materials they could find, and the best gunsmiths they had to build these fine 1911s. The original high gloss blue factory finish rates 98% on this example with the only deductions coming from the slightest of high edge wear on the slide and a tad of finish wear on the barrel where it makes contact with the barrel bushing.  The bore is minty and bright on this Colt.  The rifling still looks factory-new with sharp lands and grooves and zero pitting, erosion, or imperfections.  The original factory checkered Walnut grips are in minty condition as well.  The checkering is still crisp and clean and there is no visible wear or handling marks on either side.  The gold colored Colt medallions are still intact in excellent shape and tight to the wood.  All of the controls are in perfect working order and the action on this pistol is extremely smooth and precise.  The adjustable target-style trigger feels excellent, breaking with a light pull with no grit or slop. If you have been looking for one of these legendary 70 Series Colt pistols for your collection, this example would be an excellent choice that would be extremely hard to upgrade from.
