Description:
This is a nice honest and original 1979 vintage Remington Model 700 BDL chambered in .243 Winchester complete with a period Redfield 1-piece bade and 1" rings.  It appears to have been carried afield far more than it was actually fired.  It comes out of an estate where it has been in storage for many years.  The Model 700 BDL is Remington's finest variation of the 700, with a high-polish gloss blue finish, a hand-cut checkered Walnut stock with a black forend tip and pistol grip cap, factory installed sling swivel studs, and a factory installed Remington-branded buttplate.  This rifle has a 22" inch barrel with iron sights (rear sight has been removed for scope clearance and is missing), and the length of pull is 13.5" inches to the end of the buttplate.  The original factory gloss blue finish is in beautiful condition.  It shows some very minor handling marks and no finish wear to speak of other than one small thin spot on top the barrel.  The black finish on the alloy triggerguard and floorplate is in excellent shape with only a couple of tiny handling marks visible only under close inspection.  The bore in this Remington is minty and bright.  The rifling still looks new with sharp lands and grooves, and there are no visible imperfections whatsoever.  The bolt face is also in excellent shape with no wear pattern around the firing pin.   The stock on this rifle is very attractive but does show some minor dings/dents/scratches typical of a rifle that has been carried afield.  The stock shows no cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage of any kind, and the gloss factory clearcoat finish is still completely intact.  The black forend tip, pistol grip cap, and buttplate are all in excellent condition, fit perfectly to the stock, and tight to the wood.  The factory-installed sling swivel studs are also still in place.  As mentioned earlier, this rifle has a period-correct Redfield optics base and rings already mounted up and they are in great shape.  All this rifle needs is a scope to be ready to go the field or range.  The .243 Winchester chambering makes this an ideal rifle for the new or recoil-sensitive shooter that wants a centerfire rifle for deer or varmint hunting.  The low recoil will prevent the bad habit of flinching at the shot from ever forming.  All of the controls on this rifle work 100% like the day it left the factory.  The action is smooth and precise, and the bolt locks into battery perfectly.  The trigger is the original factory trigger that has not been modified and is quite good, breaking with a light pull with no slop.  If you have been looking for a nice vintage Remington 700 BDL in .243 Winchester to add to your hunting and shooting arsenal, this rifle would be an excellent choice.
