DESCRIPTION: Winchester Model 1876 rifle with standard 28" full octagon barrel, full magazine and crescent butt. Original trap door butt plate, original front sight and correctly marked 1876 ladder rear sight, correct 3rd model dust cover. Serial # 50295, made in 1885 and shipped in 1886 according to the Cody Museum records, which will be included with the rifle.
CONDITION: Barrel, mag tube and receiver retain 50% original finish that has turned a mix of plum and patina with some streaks of brighter blue underneath. Hammer retains 10% original case colors. Lever, fore end cap and butt plate case colors have silvered out. Action is tight and crisp. Half cock safety functions properly. Bore is very good with only light black powder fouling and nice consistent rifling. Tight mag tube with no wobble. Stocks are in great shape, still proud, no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished, no extra holes, with typical light dings and scratches expected of a 134 year old rifle. 1876s in this condition don't come around often!!
