Description:
If you would be interested in an of this item email me please,,,, Take a  Good Look at this amazing one of a kind cased 1800's Fancy Bowie set....Added a couple of photos to show that beutiful Mother of Pearl.... Very Rare Presentation set of Cook & Brothers Knives with derringer.....Offering a wonderful presentation set of Cook & Brothers Spear point Bowie Knives 1850"s with Mother of Pearl grips and  scabbards in an (11 X 14) Oak presentation case. The gamblers set also includes a small derringer Hex Barrell 22 caliber 4 digit serial number ( Hopkins & Allen XL with a production total of about 2000) The derringer has a MOP (Mother of Pearl) dot set in each side of the wood grips. The knives are in excellent untouched condition retaining a beautiful patina from age. The knives have a nice beefy feel. The small knife measures 9 inches with a 4 1/2 inch blade. The larger knife 11 inches with a 6 inch blade. No issues leather sheaths are solid and stitching good. The derringer shows well and functions 3 digit serial number. Both knives are clearly stamped Cook & Brothers, New Orleans.(Before Cook & Brothers had to flee New Orleans) Both knives have heavy brass guards. Note: Cook & Brothers were one of the foremost arms makers for the Confederacy producing rifles  and edged weapons. (Took me a month to find one of C&B carbines on the internet. Apparently not to many survived. I believe the same is true anout this set. )  They had to move their plant when New Orleans fell to the Yankees. Continued to provide guns until they were unable to collect for the arms. They also produced other wartime blades and bayonets. Pictures should say it all. Email any questions. Providing best pics I can. Case has original velvet. compartment was for ammo. No barrel key. Good Luck !! (These were sometimes called Garter Knives as they were popular with some ladies of the saloons. This wonderful set must have been assembled around the 1870's with the early Bowies and the 1870 Derringer. Please email any questions or special requests. This is about all I know from the research I have been able to do. I Recently purchased a drop point bowie made by Cook & Brothers New Orleans with stag grip and with the same Manufacturing Mark.(I have added a photo of this marking).  A unique, wonderful addition for your knife collection. Good Luck !!!
