The Hi Standard M-101 Dura-Matic .22 pistol was made for only 4 years between 1954 and 1957 and was marketed as a fun and reliable semi-auto .22 pistol at a lower price point than some of their more expensive "target" models. This particular example features a 4.5" inch easily-removable barrel, a factory blue finish, fixed sights, and a 1-piece molded brown plastic grip. This M-101 Dura-Matic model has a magazine release mounted just above the trigger on the left side, a visible cocking indicator at the rear, and the frame-mounted safety at the rear also doubles as a manual bolt hold-open. This Hi Standard is in great shape overall, and is 100% original except for the front sight which has been filed to a narrower profile than stock. The original factory blue finish shows some minor wear and handling marks but is consistent and attractive. It has obviously been used some over the years but has been well-cared for. The bore in this Dura-Matic is superb. The rifling still looks new with sharp lands and grooves, and there is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible. As mentioned before, the barrel can be swapped out easily on this model without tools and this original barrel attaches perfectly to the frame without any play on slop in it. The 1-piece grip on this Hi Standard is in excellent condition. It is free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and shows little to no wear in either side of the molded texture on the grip. Everything on this pistol is in perfect working order, and we have no doubt it will shoot just as accurately and reliably as it did when it left the factory in the 1950's. This M-101 Dura-Matic comes with one 10-round magazine in excllent condition. The magazine is unmarked and we are not sure if it is a factory magazine or not, but we did test it for function with dummy rounds and it functioned perfectly when cycled by hand. If you have been looking for a high-quality vintage semi-auto .22 pistol for your collection this 1950's M-101 Dura-Matic would be a great choice. Not only should it be an excellent long-term investment, but it should be a superb shooter/plinker that you can have fun with.
