Description:
The Walther P5 Compact was introduced in 1987 and imported in very small numbers into the early 1990's. This particular example was made in 1992, comes with an extra factory magazine, and is all-original and in very good condition. The Walther P5 design is a semi-automatic SA/DA pistol on an alloy frame with the ejection port located on the left side of the slide, and features a frame-mounted combination decocking lever/slide-stop, an 8-shot single-stack magazine, automatic internal safeties, adjustable sights on a serrated top strap, and a factory matte blue finish. While the full size P5 model has a 3.5" inch barrel, the P5 Compact has a 3.1" inch barrel that is nearly flush with the front of the slide. The P5 proved to be an excellent pistol, both extremely reliable and accurate and were used by many European police forces. This 1992-manufacture P5 Compact example is a commercial production pistol and one of the few P5 Compacts imported into the States. It is an all-original gun and has not been modified or "improved" in any way. All of the serial numbered parts are matching including the frame, barrel, and slide. The factory matte blue finish is in great shape and still looks very attractive on this Walther, with only minor finish wear showing mainly on some of the high edges. The factory finish on the alloy frame is also in great shape overall, showing only a few scattered handling/storage marks. The bore in this pistol is excellent, mirror-bright and clean with no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible. The rifling still looks new with sharp lands and grooves. The original checkered black plastic grips are in good condition, showing only some very light handling marks and one small crack in the left grip at the bottom rear corner. This could be repaired very easily with a little glue and is only visible under close inspection. The grips are perfectly tight to the gun with no wiggle or slop in either side. All of the controls on this Walther are in perfect working order and the slide to frame fit is perfect. The internals of this pistol are just as clean as the exterior and show no visible mechanical wear. This pistol has obviously spent most of it's life in storage or in a safe. We have no doubt that this Walther P5 Compact would shoot just as accurately and reliably today as it did when it left the factory in 1992. As mentioned before, this P5 Compact comes with two factory magazines. If you have been looking for one of these scarce and desirable pistols here is your chance to get a very clean example that appears to have been fired very, very little.
