Description:
SOLD...Minty antique Smith & Wesson 4th model .32 caliber double action revolver with original box. This is absolutely one of the best boxed Smith & Wesson's I have ever offered for sale. Has the standard 3 1/2” barrel. S/N 163492 and all matching of course including the grips. This little gun has most all of the original nickel plated finish. The barrel has 99% with just a couple very small spots of flaking by the barrel latch. The cylinder has 100% and the frame has 98% with just a small area on the right side that is speckling just a little. Hope you can see in the photos and I can send as many photos as you want close ups. This gun is very hard to photograph because of the glare of the nickel finish. Markings are excellent. The mechanics are excellent as well and the gun is crisp and tight as new. Cylinder locks up like new with NO movement. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and the hinge. Works perfectly in DA and SA. Hammer notches are perfect and very positive. Extractor works perfectly as well of course. The bore is minty bright as are the chambers. The grips are mint with no cracks or chips and a perfect factory fit. They show all the fine checkering and luster. You can even still see the very small PAT date on the bottom left side. This marking is usually worn off even on high condition guns and most people do not even know that they are there... Barrel latch shows about 25% blue. The trigger guard shows most all the bright blue on the sides and traces on the bottom. The blue on the bottom has worn off from sliding around being in the box probably it's entire life. The hammer has about 90% bright and vivid case colors. The trigger case colors have faded to a silver gray color. No pits or dings on the gun. Untouched front sight never filed on or messed with. The screws are all perfect and show no turning or being monkeyed with. The original box is S/N ed to the gun on the bottom. The box is 99% and near mint as the gun. Perfect hinge with no tears. The finish shows hardly any wear at all. NO corner damage or tears to the finish. Just a couple very small spots where the finish has worn on the front from opening the box. Absolutely perfect DIRECTION FOR USE label in side with no staining or tears. Also a perfect correct orange end label with no rips or tears. One of the best boxes I have ever had. This is an outstanding little set that would be VERY hard to improve on but maybe finding one with more blue on the bottom of the trigger guard. The box would be near impossible to find a better one... Finding a gun and it's original cardboard box that is 130 years old in this condition is no easy task. I did see an ad in the Smith & Wesson 3rd edition book from a high end dealer back in 2006 with a mint 4th model in the box for $1150 !!! so I am sure I have this one price very reasonable... Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos of the gun or the box in any area you may want to see. This is a beautiful little set that would fit in any high end Smith & Wesson collection for less than $1000 !!!! Please check back often as I have many very nice antique firearms to get listed. $25 insured shipping.
