Description:
Up for sale a very nice 1937 produced German Army Luger.  1937 was a year of transition in Luger production at Mauser, they started the year using the Rust Blue finish and strawing the small parts, then in the mid t-block they transitioned to the duller Salt Blue finish and changed to bluing the entire gun including the small parts.  This Luger falls in the s-block and is near the end of the early production style, many collectors feel the Rust Blue finish brings out almost a commercial finish quality on the pistols and are the most desirable.  In 1937 around 30,000 Lugers were produced before the changeover making it one of the less common variations in the pre-war guns.  This Luger is all matching minus the magazine and is in very high, collector grade condition.  All internals match, the grips are numbered matching to the gun and show nice sharpness on the diamonds, and barrel serial number displays clear halo for original finish.

These early guns saw a service life of 8-10 years of use in the Wehrmacht including 6 years of war and were by far the most popular GI bring back souvenir at the end of the war. The fit, finish and quality of the early guns is exceptionally high and this gun grades very well with only a small amount of holster wear on the high points and straps.  Proofs and numbering are very sharp and would make an excellent addition to any WWII military collection.
