Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Certified Check, Money Order Description: Engraved SAN FRANCISCO Webley BULLDOG 450 Revolver Fine Example of Engraved British Import Revolver Here we present an antique Engraved Webley Bulldog Revolver in .450, made circa the 1880s in London before it was shipped to Liddle & Kaeding of San Francisco, California. This was a potent and prized self-defense revolver in its day. Liddle & Kaeding, located at 538 Washington St., was the largest firearms dealer in San Francisco in the 1870s and 80s. The company was named for its partners, Robert Liddle and Charles Van Buren Kaeding, who bought the Bogart Brothers Sportmen’s Emporium in 1859. The British Bulldog was a popular solid-frame pocket revolver that was invented by Henry Webley in 1868 and copied by gunmakers all over Europe and the United States. This one is the original, high quality Webley. The Bulldog was so popular in Britain and America that US Army General George Armstrong Custer is recorded to have carried a pair at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. This revolver features rare 65% engraving throughout. The engraving is finely executed with delicate scrolls. The top strap is marked “LIDDLE & KAEDING/SAN FRANCISCO”. Another revolver only 2 numbers away is also marked by this retailer but is plain and without engraving. This engraving way very likely done in-house at Liddle & Kaeding. The barrel and cylinder feature British proofs. The left side of the barrel is marked “WEBLEY’S No. 2 .450 CF”. The overall condition is near fine. Strong traces of the original blue finish remain. The markings and engravings are clear and legible. The numbers match. The checkered hardwood grips are in great shape. The bore is fine, clear with strong rifling. The action is excellent. This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a rare and desirable engraved Webley Bulldog that was in San Francisco in some of its wildest days! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-1/2 inches. Caliber: .450 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
