Description:
*HYSTERICALLY REDUCED* DWM Mdl. 1903, "Fat Barrel" American Eagle Luger Cal. 9mm, Ser. 229XX
One of the rarest of all Lugers, is the American Eagle "Fat Barrel" Luger. There were only 600 "Fat Barrel" ever made and all of them came to the U.S."  There are no records of why they were made other than the quantity was 600.  There is some conjecture as to the possibility of offering the gun in .45 acp, but that was never proven. Not surprisingly the Fat Barrels are even scarcer than the coveted 1900 American Eagle Military Test Luger, of which there were 1000. These are actually much rarer even than the Luger carbine.

This 116-year-old Luger is in super condition and is indeed an exceptional find. The gun retains about 95%+ of the original factory blue. The slight loss is due, basically some sharp edge silvering the usual but slight side plate wear. There are also some small little pin pricks on the sharp edges and a few small surface nicks on the barrel. The grip straps and grip safety show only the very slight toning. The strawed parts have faded to a bright silver as is natural due to age with a few tiny pin pricks.

All parts match, including the barrel which has the proper chamber specs on it. The matching walnut grips have darkened over the years but show little or no sign of wear with just a few flattened points.  No chips or cracks or dings on them anywhere. The grip screws are undamaged.

In addition to the sharp American Eagle stamp on the receiver the gun has all the proper period proofs.  “Germany” is stamped on the frame under the serial number. The feed ramp, bolt face and slide rails show very little evidence of use. The bore is mirror bright with razor sharp rifling and showing just a touch of frost. The bore, like the rest of the gun, also shows little evidence of any use. It comes with the priginal wooden bottomed magazine correctly stamped in large script, "CAL "9 mm" which is in itself quite rare.

I'll bet there isn't 10 of these still floating around somewhere in the world, and certainly not in this fine condition. For the very serious investor orLuger collector. Here's a 100% factory original centerpiece that the other guy doesn't have, that I can assure you of.....$11,950.
