NEAR MINT INDIAN WARS SHARPS U.S. MODEL 1868 .50-70 CAL. CAVALRY CARBINE. 22” barrel with the original Lawrence Patent rear sight and original block and nickel blade front sight. All original numbered in the c,9xxx serial range. Post Civil War cartridge conversion by Springfield Armory as well as Sharps of the percussion New Model 1863 Carbine. Brilliant example with about 95% of the original color case hardening and 97% plus of the original blue. Excellent screws with much blue finish. Stock and forend with all the original finish. Patch box with original case colors on door and original blue on screws. Stock with mint and all correct Ordnance Inspector’s and Sub-Inspector’s cartouches including a perfectly struck banner “DFC” Indian Wars Springfield Armory cartouche of U.S. Army Ordnance Inspector David F. Clark. Perfect working order and mint bore. Nicest one we have had in 10 years.
