RARE AMERICAN TIGER MAPLE STOCKED FLINTLOCK PENNSYLVANIA MILITIA MUSKET CIRCA 1780’s-90’s. Late Revolutionary War to early Federal era Pennsylvania Flintlock Militia Musket in all original untouched condition. 44” octagon to round .69 caliber smoothbore barrel with “V” notch rear sight integral with the barrel breech tang and with brass blade front sight and bayonet lug on underside near the muzzle. Brass mounts with 4 brass ramrod pipes in the Brown Bess fashion and a brass trigger guard. Brass forend cap. Brass front and rear original sling swivels and wide ( 2”)brass butt plate with very long (6”) early style finial. Brass side plate of early form with pointed rear finial in the Pennsylvania style. Tiger maple stock with Brown Bess form “BEAVER TAIL” carving about the tang and Pennsylvania style raised bordering about the ramrod channel. Original iron ramrod. Original American made musket lock with the original hammer and lock parts including all the screws, top jaw and jaw screw. All original finish on the stock with no repairs or restoration. Metal with good old dark patina. Lock in working order. For very similar musket attributed to John Guest of Lancaster see Moller, AMERICAN MILITARY SHOULDER ARMS, Vol. 1, page 264. Untouched and very handsome example.
