Description:
Priced reduced to 345.00....Don't miss this One of a kind North Coast Whaling artifact....Very interesting Fetish acquired from the Haida peoples in 1906.  Collector  Signed and dated tobacco  pouch when acquired. see pics. I  believe the name can be read. There are 4 carved bone  buttons, 2 trade beads, a cloth signed and dated tobacco pouch, a soft leather pouch,  a  small tooth from a whale  and a metal object/fetish. ( all loose in the bags. I purchased syn.  sinew to string  beads and tooth ) This  a piece acquired by a tribe member in trade or from a battle. I pulled there history up on Google. The Haida people date back 14000 years and were a  Viking like people that were found in  Canada, and British Columbia and coastal islands off the North Coast.. This all  Probably was strung on sinew at sometime as a necklace. I believe this sperm whale Fetish was taken or bartered from an early sailor from a whaling vessel.  Lots of info on this interesting culture on Google. email any questions and Good Luck. Soft tobacco pouch reads: Haida NW Coast Whaling Fetish collected 1906 B. S. Rimker with his original tags. This is a truly unique one of a kind documented artifact.
