Winchester Model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine .45-70 Gov't. The serial number of this example is 817XX placing date of manufacture in 1893. Overall condition is fine with the Barrel and Magazine retaining 95% of the original factory finish. The bore is near perfect and will rate a 9.5 on a 1 to 10 scale. The bore is bright and shiny from the breech to the muzzle, a well cared for Carbine is the most desirable caliber. The receiver is mostly silvered out with finish found only in protected areas. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. Wood to metal fit is very good void of any cracks or breaks. I fired this Carbine with Remington factory Ammo 405grn. The Carbine fired and function perfectly and was found to be very accurate a 100 yards off hand. A very well cared for Carbine, above average condition.
