Description:

This is  an antique U.S. Henry I.N. Johnson Model 1842 Percussion Pistol, made in 1854, in Middletown, Connecticut by Henry Aston and Ira N. Johnson. The Model 1842 saw service during a time of great change and increasing tension, as well as firearms innovation.  This was the first official percussion pistol to be adopted by the U.S. and simultaneously the last large smooth bore single shot pistol.

This specimen is marked “US/I.N. JOHNSON” and “MIDDTN/CONN./1854” on the lock. The left side of the barrel bears proof markings of “US/JCB/P”. Small initials from sub-inspectors are found on various parts of the gun. There is only a faint outline of a cartouche on the left side.
This specimen is in fine condition. Brass and iron are smooth with nice patina. The walnut stock is very nice and very solid.  Markings are clear and legible. The bore is in very good condition. The action is excellent. Has an 8.5" round barrel with a very good bore. .54 caliber percussion.
The firing mechanism is excellent.!  Buyer pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states. I accept USPS Money Orders and Bank Cashier's Check.( Will accept Personal check, with shipping hold). 3  Day non-firing non-disassembly inspection period.
