Metal is 99%+ with the tinyest mark on the bottom of receiver just ahead of the lever, a slight mark at rear of sight elevator ( both pictured if you can see them ) and very minor mark on hammer when cocked. Otherwise, no other visable marks on the metal. Wood is nearly perfect with two small marks on the left side of the buttstock that may show up in the photos. Most likely there since it was new. A small mark just below the front swivel where it must have bottomed out when the protective material was taken off the swivel at one time. Looking at the firing pin, it appears that the only times this gun was fired is when it was proofed at the factory ( See Photo ). A note about the bore, it was full of cosmoline from the factory. Bore is Perfect like the rest of the gun except what is noted above. Wish I had the box. The best 71 Deluxe we have had over the nearly 40 years we have been in business. Previous names of the business were Elmira Arms Company and Peaco Distribution ( which was the Pennsylvania Elmira Arms Company ). A True Collectible Winchester 71. Serial # 355xx which puts production in late 1953 or early 1954. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
