Description:
We don't find many original Krupp steel barreled B Grade Lefevers and this one is wonderful. This gun came from the Dana Tauber collection about 20 years ago, has sat in the collection of a private Southern Gentleman since, and has never been offered publicly. The gun is in the 51,xxx SN range and has classic engraving that we love about Lefevers. Made with 30" Krupp steel barrels, splinter forend, gold plated checkered double triggers.
The gun has a capped pistol grip buttstock with striking European walnut. The figure is intense and beautiful. The gun was made with an original Montel Carlo (rare on a Lefever) and has KILLER modern dimensions with long LOP. The gun retains the original lined horn buttplate.
Photos tell most of the story. Barrels have been reblued and retain nearly all of their expert rust blued finish. Action retains about 20% original color. Engraving is crisp. Wood has some minor marks and hunting bumps, but nothing offensive. Checkering is all fully visible, though thinned a touch on the forend. Bores are brilliant and shiny. Ejectors are timed, and mechanics are crisp.
