Description:
Colt 1903 38 acp Pocket Hammer, not to be confused with the 38 Super or the Colt 380 Pocket HammerLESS. This is a fine shooting semiAuto pistol and a forerunner to the Model 1905 45 and the 1911. The finish on this one leaves much to be desired, but it functions well and the stories this gangster gun could tell. It was manufactured in 1905 and was the first 1873rd of this model made. Only 31,250 of these were made by Colt from Dec 1903 until Dec 1927 which started at serial 19,999 down to serial 16,000. Then the serial numbers continued at 20,000 and went to 47,226 - WEIRD.
Unusual and early plunged milled rear serrations and hand checkered round (stub) hammer.
Markings: BROWNING'S PATENT COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG CO
