Pre-WWI German DWM 1910 Luger Pistol
With Unit Markings and Holster
Here we present an Imperial German DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) Pistole Parabellum 1908 Military Luger Pistol, made circa 1910 in Berlin. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical and productive fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The P.08 is the pistol carried by German troops during World War I and II and is perhaps the most associated with those events. It is one of the most iconic pistols in history.
The top of the frame is dated “1910”. The toggle is marked “DWM”. The front grip strap bears “2.H.1.19” suggesting it was issued to the 2nd Hussars Regiment. This pistol has a dull black finish, numbers have been restamped to match, and grips are of brindle color with a bullseye motif. Holster is black leather with ink markings under the flap. A spare magazine with a brown plastic base is included.
The overall condition is good. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in very good condition. The bore is clear and bright with strong rifling. The action is excellent.
