Description:

WWI German P.08 Luger Pistol by DWM, Dated 1910

With “1910” Dated Leather Flap Military Holster

Here we present a “1910” Dated DWM P.08 Luger Pistol, made in 1910 in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars.

This DWM P.08 Luger Pistol is stamped with the year that it was made, “1910”. It was part of a Germany Army contract which produced sidearms in the years leading up to the Great War. This example bears military type serial numbering throughout. The right side of the chamber is marked with German military proof and acceptance marks. The top of the toggle bears the “DWM” monogram. This pistol comes in an original “1910” dated leather flap military holster, made and marked by “STECHER” of “FREIBERG”. The holster is of sturdy construction and remains in good shape for its 108 years. The small pocket inside contains a takedown tool.

The overall condition is fair. This pistol was arsenal refurbished at one time, having its barrel replaced and several parts from another pistol installed to further this one’s service life. The remaining finish is about 65%. Markings are clear. The serial numbers primarily come from two pistols. Grips are worn with a slim crack in the left panel. Grip screws have been shored up with washers. The bore is nigh smooth. The action remains strong. Here is a pistol that was made just prior to WWI and looks as though it saw its fair share of the fighting!
