Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars. This Mauser Luger Pistol was made just prior to World War II in 1937 and is so dated. The toggle is marked “S/42” and you will find no mention of Mauser on this pistol as this was a period of time during which Germany was secretly rearming itself in opposition to the Treaty of Versailles, which imposed strict limitations on armament and size of military in addition to harsh punitive measures. Third Reich military proof marks are located on the right side of the chamber. The overall condition is good. This pistol has been reblued at some point. Bluing is about 65%. The markings are clear. The serial numbers match on the metallic parts. The grips are fair. The left grip has a glued crack at the rear. Left grip screw is absent. The bore is bright and sharp. The action is excellent. Here is a fascinating relic from World War II! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 4 inches. Caliber: 9x19mm Luger Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe.
