Winchester model 53 in the rare 44-40 takedown configuration.Built in the 2nd year of production of the 53,1925.This rifle is in all original condition.It retains 90% of the original blue finish,and 95% of the original wood finish.The nickel steel barrel has a mint bore that is free of any rust or pitting.The wood is sound with no cracks or damage.Of the total of 25,000 model 53s built between 1924 and 1932 only 3200 were in 44-40.Of the 3200 in 44-40 only around 1000 had the takedown option.this is a very scarce Winchester for collectors and a really fun rifle to shoot.C&R eligible.
