Description:
Manufactured in 1963, this "3-screw" Old Model Ruger Blackhawk revolver chambered in .357 Magnum is a very attractive that has never had the transfer bar modification.  Introduced in 1955, the single action Ruger Blackhawk Model revolver quickly proved to be an excellent gun.  They are well-made, reliable, accurate, and attractive, and they have continued to be a commercial success for the Ruger with production continuing even today (New Model Blackhawk).  This vintage Old Model Blackhawk is serial number 46164 and retains 96% of the original gloss blue finish on the metal parts, showing only minor finish wear on the high edges, a tiny spot of prior rust on the left side of the barrel at the muzzle, and some scattered very light handling/storage marks.  As you can see from the pictures provided, none of these deductions do much to diminish from the clean overall look of this gun.  The factory black painted finish on the grip frame and triggerguard appears to have been redone at some point and is nearly flawless.  The 6.5" inch barrel on this Ruger has a perfect bore, mirror-bright with strong rifling and no visible imperfections.  The cylinder bores are just as clean and bright as the barrel.  The smooth Walnut grips with silver and black Ruger medallions are in excellent condition, with both sides free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage.  Both sides fit the gun very nicely and are tight to the grip frame with no wiggle.  The adjustable rear sight as well as the other controls are in perfect working order on this Ruger, and the action is slick, smooth, and perfectly "in time" whether worked fast or slow.  All three hammer positions are intact, and the trigger is superb, breaking with a very light pull with no grit or slop.  This is a very handsome 3-screw Blackhawk that is just as clean on the inside as it is on the outside.  It has obviously been fired very little and well cared-for during it's life.  If you have been looking for a very nice .357 Magnum Old Model Blackhawk for your collection that isn't too perfect to shoot, this 1963 production example (C&R Eligible!) would be an excellent choice.
