Description:
This is really a great looking .22 caliber "Silver Eagle" Ruger Standard Model Mark 1 Target pistol with a 6 & 7/8ths" inch tapered heavy barrel and period "factory accessory" checkered Walnut Target Grips with a thumb shelf.  Made during our Bicentennial in 1976, the top of the gun is factory stamped "Made In The 200th Year Of American Liberty".  The semi-automatic Ruger Standard Model Mark 1 .22 caliber pistol was the first of a long line of very successful rimfire pistols for the Ruger firm.  Introduced first in 1949, and known as the "Red Eagle" Standard Model Mark 1 by collector's today, the pistol proved to be a superb design that was reliable, accurate, and well-made.  It was an immediate commercial success for the firm and Ruger has continued to make the Standard Model in various "Marks" and configurations continuously thru the present day, with the Mark 4 being the most current model.  This particular Mark 1 Target Model was made in 1976 and is in excellent condition overall.  While it has been lightly used, it has obviously been well cared-for over the last 43 years.  The Target Model was the top-of-the-line for the Standard Model Mark 1's, and in addition to the heavy tapered barrel mentioned previously, features a micro-click adjustable rear sight with an undercut patridge front sight and a factory tuned trigger.  This vintage Mark 1 Target has a beautiful original blue finish on it that rates 96%.  The only deductions come from the front and rear grip strap which shows some minor wear and thinning of the blue finish.  The factory blue finish on the rest of the frame, the upper assembly, and the barrel is beautiful and looks near-new.  The bore in this Ruger is superb, mirror-bright and with nice sharp rifling throughout.  There is no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections whatsoever.  The adjustable target sights on this gun are also in excellent condition, both mechanically and aesthetically.  The original grips on this Ruger would have been checkered black plastic, but those have been swapped out at some point in favor of some vintage factory accessory checkered Walnut Target-style grips from Ruger.  These attractive and well-designed grips are in excellent shape.  They are designed for a right-handed shooter only, with the left grip panel featured a checkered lower half with a smooth upper half with a thumb shelf, and the right grip panel featuring full checkering and a silver and black Ruger medallion.  Both sides are free from any cracks, repairs, or major damage, and only show some VERY minor handling/storage marks.  The checkering on both sides is clean and crisp with no oil soiling.  All of the controls on this Ruger are in perfect working order, and the action is slick and goes into battery with authority.  We have no doubt that this Mark 1 Target pistol will shoot just as reliably and accurately today as it did when it was brand-new in 1976.  This pistol comes with one original factory Mark 1 Model 9-round magazine, in excellent condition with stout spring pressure and clean feed lips.  If you have been looking for a classy, well-made, reliable, and extremely accurate .22 semi-auto pistol for your collection this Ruger would be an excellent choice.  Not only should it be an excellent target/plinking/small game hunting pistol, but with good care should be an excellent long term investment as well.
