Antique ENGRAVED Belgian OVER/UNDER Boxlock Pistol
Liege Proofed With Folding Triggers
Here we present an antique European Over/Under Boxlock Percussion Pistol, made circa 1850 in Belgium and is Liege proofed. This little self-defense pistol would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy cities of Europe during the 1800s. This pistol is small, light and simple. Men would carry them concealed in a waistcoat pocket and women would hide them in a hand muff. It is elegantly engraved on all sides of the frame. Some of its other features include two folding triggers, which come out when the hammer is cocked. The folding trigger was safer and more concealable than other pistols without this feature. In addition to the Liege proofs, this pistol bears “LL” maker’s marks.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a light gray patina. The markings and engravings are clear and sharp. The walnut grip is in great shape. The left hammer spur was repaired at some point. The bores are in good condition. The action is strong.
