Here we present a Webley Mark VI Revolver in .455 Webley with New Zealand Service Markings, made in Birmingham, England circa 1918. The Webley Mark VI was produced between 1915 and 1923. The Mark IV was the standard sidearm for British and Commonwealth troops for the duration of World War I. Though they were considered obsolete in favor of other arms during the 20s, they remained in service through and long past the Second World War and saw action during the conflict. This is a full-sized British military revolver in .455 Webley. It features a top-break design with an automatic star ejector. British proofs are observed throughout. The top of the backstrap is marked “NZ” with a broad arrow, “11/19”, over “101”. The combined forces of Australia and New Zealand were called the ANZACS. They were part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force and were heavily engaged at Gallipoli among other fronts. The overall condition is near fine. 75% of the blue finish remains. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in great shape. The bore is near fine, shiny with strong rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a wonderful example of a historical British revolver from the New Zealand troops, made during the Great War! These guns are very hard to find, especially with such markings!
