Description:
1902 WINCHESTER Model 1894 .32-40 Rifle C&R

Turn of the Century .32-40 Lever Action Rifle

Here we present a Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle in .32-40 WCF, made in 1902 in New Haven, Connecticut. The credit for the design of such a prolific firearm again lies with John Moses Browning, who lent his extensive design talents to a large number of weapon types throughout his career. The Model 1894 was the first Winchester rifle made for use with the new technology of smokeless powder and was developed as a hunting rifle. Over 7.5 million were produced from 1894 until 2006. While various cartridges were supported throughout the run of the gun, the .30-30 Winchester became its staple. In practical use, the Model 1894 became a favorite for general shooters and hunters alike. To this day, it remains a deer hunting favorite, and, in all likelihood, more deer have been taken with the 1894 than any other.

This Model 1894 rifle has special-order features that include a tapered round barrel and a half-length button magazine. The .32-40 WCF was a great target round and also useful for hunting small game.

The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces bear 85% of the original blue finish. The markings are clear and legible. The forestock is original and in very good condition while the butt stock is a lighter colored replacement with a steel butt plate, the condition of which is also very good. The replacement stock is perfectly functional, though it would make a great project to restore this piece back to former glory! The bore is bright with strong rifling. The action remains strong.
