SOLD

Note: Scope is not available with the gun.  NOS Weaver bases are on the gun for sale.

This is a Remington 722 in 257 Roberts.  The gun is in excellent condition.  This gun has a 722 "B" grade (deluxe walnut) stock that was completely re-shaped and re-checkered by a Griffin & Howe "outsouce" stockmaker.  Griffin & Howe will often "job out" some of their work.  This is typical of the firm.

The project entailed buying a 722B Remington, and using that stock as a basis for the custom build.  The 257 Roberts was purchased separately, and the stock was switched over.  You can spend $5000 for a new stock and checkering, and the stock maker told me that if I could find a gun that I liked the wood on, I could save a few thousand.  I gave him dimensions for an authenic G&H stock, and he completed re-shaped it to those specifications, and duplicated the G&H Point Pattern checkering.  He fittled an ebony forearm tip to the gun, and added a steel Neider grip cap to the stock as well.  He retained the Remington butt plate, and used a baking lacquar to blacken it.  On the sides of the action, he cut off a tiny bit of the brass rod that runs sidewise on the Remington stocks, and plugged the sides with walnut before refinishing the wood.

The gun has the bolt serial numbered to the gun.  It has very nice proportions.  It has NOS Weaver bases.   New Swivel studs are in place on the stock.

There are a couple of little marks on the stock, and a bit of the lacquer finish has worn from the butt plate (see pictures) but overall the guns is excellent plus.  It's ready to go.

Note:--The first picture is a bit "blurry" because it was taken in direct afternoon sun.  The other pictures all show the condition of the finish of the stock, which I would say would be 99%. One ding by the butt plate.  See photos.
