Description:
The firm of Cogswell and Harrison dates back to 1770.  Harrison, an expert on firearms, was brought into the firm by the founder’s son in 1837. Cogswell and Harrison Company was not only known for building fine guns but for several patents related to the shooting sports including: machines to throw glass ball and clay targets, Vernier wind sights, cocking mechanisms, ejectors and single triggers.  This label dates from 1897 to 1917.  Label Size: 9 1/4 X 7 "  Frame Size: 12 3/4" X 15 1/2"

The firm of John Rigby was founded in Dublin, Ireland in 1735 and by 1801 had moved to London.  Rigby was known as builders of extremely fine target rifles and also for the manufacture of high quality shotguns.  They manufactured the first 450 caliber cordite rifles, followed by the 470 Rigby and the 416 Rigby.  These latter calibers are for stopping charging, dangerous game.  This label dates from 1963 to 1969.
