We are offering a Colt Mark IV Stainless with a significant amount custom work done at Briley by Claudio Salssa including a 5” barrel/bushing, front slide cocking serrations, front strap checkering, BoMar sights, a beveled mag well, trigger, hammer, grip safety. Includes all original parts as well. SN SS20899E. This gun has been fired.
Briley did the work on this gun as a “demo” for Lew Horton Distributing.
Except from the Gunsmith at Briely, Claudio Salssa (see image of letter):
”We were asked by Lew Horton to do this gun for them and further record checking shows it was shipped directly to them. …The frame is machine checkered and hand finished. It has our unique slide on magwell where the frame had to be machined on the CNC to accept it and it was only used for large scale production. It has an Ed Brown beavertail (old production) and Extended safety. The trigger seems to be an STI polymer trigger. Bomar rear sight and the front sight is one that we manufactured during that period and where inserted from the front of the slide to provide a cleaner appearance. We also cut the front serrations. It has a Briley match barrel, spherical bushing and an aluminum guide... The mag well is clear anodized aluminum and unless it was anodized again this gun has never been used as it would have marks on it from magazine insertion. Trigger work was also probably done on this gun.
Due to the nature of this gun I did all the fit and finish on it myself. It is also unlikely that this gun would have been done as a one of for and individual customer. It's a very unique gun.”
He estimated that, at today’s costs, the parts/work performed would be in the range of $1,250-$1,450
