In April 2009, Remington made its 10 millionth Model 870 slide action shotgun, making it the most manufactured shotgun in firearms history.
Throughout its tenure, the Model 870 has been made in an enumerable number of variations, versions and submodels. Except for special commemorative editions, the highest-end variation without engraving of those recently manufactured, is arguably the Model 870 TC Trap when it was first introduced with high grade walnut, a Monte Carlo stock, a special ventilated rib, and on these early ones… hand cut checkering. Look closely at the checkering which shows nice point patterns with no runovers, very well executed. The pistol grip stock has a Remington inscribed pistol grip cap.
This beautiful shotgun is one of those rare versions of that special variation and it is in mint condition with 2 ¾” chamber, Full choke, and 14 ½ LOP over its 1” Kick-Eez pad. The Ameican walnut stock is absolutely beautiful on this one, with the best figure, contrast and color of any I’ve ever seen on a Model 870 (which is why I bought it originally for my collection). The bluing is perfect, any blotches you see are simply shadows caused by poor lighting.
