This Winchester M-1917 , 30-06 is an original survivor from WW I and has not been refurbished nor does it have any arsenal rework stamps and no import markings. The stock is almost like original issue w/only a mark on the left frontal area of the forearm. There are no other marks. It has no cracks or dings, rubs or blemishes. The walnut is a beautiful nice reddish tone and evenly matched stain throughout. The bluing is about 97% in all areas, The barrel has the Winchester crest w/the "W" & the flamimg bomb w/the date of "6 -18" (1918). The stock also has the imprinted "W" at the front. The bolt, front sight and bayonet lug all have the "W" imprint. The bore measures a 2 and the throat is about 1 1/2 all excellent, The bore also has a distinct twist and is a mirror. There are no visible wear marks any where that I can see.
Rock Island Company recently sold one of these for $ over $ 4500.00 plus premium. There are no disappointments with
this excellent Winchester M-1917.
I would rate this Winchester as an VerVery Good to Excellent and rare collector's piece.
