Converted by Government in the early 1900s and introduced for Cadet Training in/around 1905 (see the book “The Military Arms of Canada” at ://ashtonarmourymuseum/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/military-arms-of-canada.pdf, plate 58 for a comparison of cavalry and cadet carbines). The 19-inch barrel bore is VERY clean and BRIGHT with good rifling. This single shot, swing over breech block-action carbine and has a tight flat-head hammer. Trigger mechanism is strong and all components work very well. The rear sight is graduated to 900 feet and has a brass bead for the front sight (again consistent with circa 1900 Government Conversions). Good stock without cracks. Carbine has a brass trigger guard and a single iron band. Butt plate tang is strongly marked with its regiment and rack numbers. This is a good functional carbine.
