Description:
This is one of the most widely used rifles in history. The Winchester 94 can be considered “The Deer Hunting rifle”, as it, along with the .30-30 cartridge, has arguably been used to take more deer than any other rifle/cartridge combination in history. Originally produced as the first commercial smokeless powder rifle, the Model 1894 (often shortened to ’94 or 94) and the .30-30 Winchester round set the benchmark for deer hunting rifle and cartridges everywhere. Indeed, the .30-30 Winchester is considered the starting round in the category of rifle cartridges suitable for deer hunting. This rifle is a post-64 commemorative model. It commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the NRA. It is built as a “Musket”. With respect to lever-action rifles, the term musket is used for guns with barrels longer than 24-inches (20” = carbine, 24” = rifle, 24+ = musket). The NRA rifle uses a standard round barrel. The magazine holds 7 rounds. This rifle is pre-owned but is in good condition – there are a few locations of bluing wear on the magazine tube and the lower side of the receiver. The lettering on the right side of the barrel has lost some color. There are a few dings in the stock which can most likely be steamed out. There is some finish wear in a few spots on the receiver, particularly on the left side. The most notable amount of finish wear is on the top rear corner of the butt plate. This is shown in the pictures. The bore is in excellent condition with no rust or pitting and the action operates very smoothly. This rifle would make a nice hunting rifle for those interested in a long-barreled 1894.
