Description:
This is a very nice example of an early Nazi-occupation F.N. Browning Model 1922 made in late 1941 to 1942 during World War 2.  The Model 1922 is a variant of the John Browning designed Model 1910.  It features a blow-back operated semi-auto action, a grip safety in addition to a thumb safety, and a striker-type firing pin with no external hammer.  The Model 1922 variant was designed as a military and police weapon and has a longer slide and longer grip frame than the Model 1910 which gave the gun an 8-round magazine capacity.  After the German Army invaded Belgium and went under Nazi occupation, the F.N. plant continued to manufacture weapons for the German Military under German supervision.  This particular Model 1922 is one of the early occupation guns with the 140 code Waffenamts, serial number 77437.  It is an all-matching and 100% original gun in very good condition, and was most certainly captured by an American soldier and brought home as a war trophy.  The original miltary blue finish is still very attractive, showing only some very light wear from use and holster carry.  As you can see from the pictures, most of this finish wear is located on the high edges and at the muzzle where it made contact with the leather when holstered.  The bore in this F.N. Model 1922 is excellent, bright and clean with nice sharp rifling and no pitting.  The original checkered Walnut grips are also in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or noticeable wear.  The checkering is still crisp and free from soiling.  All of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order and the action is slick and stout.  We have no doubt that this Model 1922 would shoot just as reliably and accurately as it did when it left the factory and went into German service 77 years ago.  It has obviously been well cared-for over the years, and most certainly was some veteran's source of pride.  If you have been looking for a really nice all-original Nazi-proofed F.N. Browning Model 1922 for your collection this example would be a great choice.  It has just the perfect amount of wear to still be very attractive and investment worthy but not so perfect that you would feel terrible shooting it.
