Description:
Matching Pair of Large Antique Ottoman Flintlock Pistols

Exquisitely Ornate with Fully Carved and Inlaid Stock, Engraved

Here we present an antique Pair of Matching Ottoman Flintlock Pistols, made circa the 18th century in a region that was part of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman at one time occupied the majority of the coastal areas of the Mediterranean Sea. Those regions included the Balkans, Greece, up into the Slavic nations, Turkey, part of Saudi Arabia, various Middle Eastern and Muslim nations, Egypt, and Algeria. This was a period of rampant piracy and slave trade. These pistols embody what many would immediately conceptualize as “pirate”.

These two are dimensionally and aesthetically identical. Pommels, trigger guards and ramrod retainers are extravagantly ornate, the flint locks are fully engraved with matching hammers. Barrels are intricately engraved and inlaid with brass. Barrel tangs are also engraved and feature a shallow rear sight. Wood stocks feature 90% coverage of ornate carving. Wire inlays are prominent on the grips and around the lock inletting, as well as on each of the false ramrods. False ramrods were employed as a separate ramrod was kept on the shooter’s person to prevent loss. Maker’s mark is likely there, but well hidden among the gorgeous styling.

This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 12 inches in length.

Caliber: .69

Bore is smooth in very good condition. The firearm is in good working order.

Overall condition as seen in photos.

Here is a very nice brace of historical pistols. These are museum quality pieces that could be yours to display in your collection, in your library or your office.
