SAN FRANCISCO 1890s Antique Webley RIC Revolver
Retail Marked and Sold by Liddle & Kaeding!
Here we present an antique Liddle & Kaeding San Francisco Marked Webley RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary) Revolver in .450 Webley, made circa the late 19th Century in England. Liddle & Kaeding were known to have imported a number of these revolvers and they were a favorite out West in the closing years of the 19th Century and into the next. This dealer was located at 538 Washington St. San Francisco, California. This is a full-sized revolver that competed right alongside the likes of Colt and Smith & Wesson to be worn on the hips of cowboys, miners and regular people who would come into San Francisco for supplies. This RIC has the ability to fire in both double and single actions and fired the .450 Webley cartridge which compared well with the .45 Colt.
This RIC features the “LIDDLE & KAEDING/SAN FRANCISCO” markings on the top strap. The flying bullet logo over “W&S” and “WEBLEY’S/ R.I.C/ No. 1 .450 CF” is marked on the left side of the frame. Birmingham proofs are found on the frame, barrel and cylinder. The pommel is fixed with a lanyard ring.
The overall condition is very good. The iron parts bear strong traces of blue finish with a gray patina throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The checkered hardwood grips are in great shape. The bore is in good condition with strong rifling. The action is excellent. Webley RIC revolvers are scarce and desirable themselves. This one is rarer yet for its San Francisco markings!
