Here is a very nice custom Charles Daly Mauser 98 rifle chambered in .22-250 Remington caliber. Sold under the Charles Daly name, the barreled action was produced by Zastava in Yugoslavia and imported by K.B.I. in Harrisburg, Pa. Behind all of the names is a solid Mauser 98 action made by a company with roots going back to 1853 that has making Mauser actions since 1924. Featuring a 22" inch hammer-forged barrel in the popular and potent .22-250 Remington cartridge, this rifle also has a steel internal box magazine with a bow-released floorplate and an adjustable trigger with a side-mounted safety. The bolt handle is bent to clear a scope, and is flat and checkered on the bottom side. The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts and the right side of the rear receiver bridge is drilled and tapped for a receiver mounted adjustable sight. The barrel is not drilled for iron sights. All of the steel parts that were factory blued are in excellent condition with only minor handling marks visible under close inspection. The bore is minty and bright with sharp lands and grooves in the rifling. There is no pitting, erosion, or any other imperfections or wear showing. The action works smoothly and locks up tight. All of the controls work perfectly. This rifle is fit in a Butler Creek synthetic stock with Uncle Mike's sling swivel studs and a Butler Creek recoil pad. The stock is an American classic style and gives the rifle a very pleasing look to it. It is in excellent condition and was fit to the rifle very nicely. This rifle comes with a vintage Bushnell Banner scope mounted up in Weaver rings and bases. It's a fixed 2.5X scope with bright clear glass and both the windage and elevation adjustments work perfectly. This rifle would be an excellent choice as an all-purpose rifle for a rancher or farmer, or an excellent varmint hunting rifle. It is fairly light, should be super accurate, and it certainly is durable with the synthetic stock. The .22-250 chambering would give lots of range for long shots, and has sufficient power for prairie dogs up to small deer size game.
