Description:
Bersa in Argentina manufactured the Model 622 for less than 4 years between 1979 and 1982.  Essentially copied from the Italian Beretta Model 71 design, the Model 622 is a blow-back operated semi-automatic .22 Long Rifle Pistol with a detachable single-stack 10-round magazine.  The pistol features 3 seperate safeties, one slide mounted thumb safety, a push-button safety behind the trigger, and a magazine safety.  The magazine release button is mounted on the left grip panel near the heal, just like the Beretta Model 71 it was based off of.  The Bersa Model 622 has a slide stop lever located on the left side, and it locks open automatically after the last round.  The iron sights consist of a fixed front blade and a windage-adjustable rear notched blade.  The Bersa Model 622 was offered with a 3.5" flush barrel, a 4" inch threaded barrel, and a 6" inch threaded barrel.  Due to the short production run of this Bersa combined with import limitations there do not seem to be many of these floating around on the U.S. market in any barrel length, much less the coolest 4" threaded variation.  This particular example is in great shape overall and excellent mechanically.  The original gloss blue finish on this Model 622 shows some finish wear in spots and evidence of prior surface rust that has been removed, but looks great overall.  As you can see from the pictures, the pistol has a very cool look to it.  The 4" inch threaded barrel still has the thread protector in place, and has a bright and clean bore with nice strong rifling.  There is no pitting or erosion visible throughout the bore from the chamber to the muzzle.  The original checkered black plastic grips are in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, or repairs.  Neither side shows any noticeable wear, and they fit the pistol nice and tight with no wiggle.  All of the controls on this Bersa are in perfect working order, and the action works nice and smoothly by hand.  The slide to frame fit is very good, and the action closes into battery crisply.  Our best guess is that what little wear shows on this pistol is a result of poor storage rather than actual use.  All of the internals look nearly new and do not show any mechanical wear.  This Bersa Model 622 comes with one original 10-round factory magazine that is in excellent condition.  If you have been looking for a really cool new .22 pistol to add to your collection this Bersa Model 622 would be a great choice.  Not only will this vintage pistol be an absolute blast to shoot and attention-getter at the range/farm, but due to the scarcity of this model variation it should be a good long-term investment as well.
