Description:
Winchester Model of 1886 Sporting Rifle .40-70wcf. Special Order 30 inch Factory Octagon Barrel. The serial number of this example is 109118 placing date of manufacture in 1896. This 1886 is mostly patina with the "Extra Long Barrel" that had to be Special Order. The bore is very good with strong rifling and lots of shine. The bore will rate an 8 on a 1 to 10 scale. The Case Colored Receiver has silvered out with a tight, smooth and mechanically perfect action. The wood to metal fit is perfect. The stock has above average hits and dings, a little TLC will go along ways with this one. Very rare rifle in a rare caliber. This Rifle will Letter With the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wyoming.
