BRIT GOVT Marked WEBLEY RIC 83 Revolver
.450 Revolver in a Short, Stout Package
Here we present a Webley RIC (Royal Irish Constabulary) Model 83 Revolver in .450 Webley, made circa the early-20th Century in England. The Royal Irish Constabulary revolvers became favorites both commercially and for government contracts for their smooth double action mechanism and they could still be fired in single action. This one is chambered in the popular .450 Revolver cartridge and bears Birmingham view and proof marks on the cylinder, barrel and frame. This one also bears official British government acceptance marks on the right side of the frame a broad arrow with a “D” on either side or “D^D”, denoting use by either military or police during its prime.
The top strap is also marked “WEBLEY & SON/LONDON & BIRMINGHAM”. The left side of the frame is marked “MADE IN ENGLAND”, along with “WEBLEY’S RIC/MODEL/83/5 SHOT” over the “W&S” winged bullet logo. This one is in lovely original condition that would be difficult to improve on.
The overall condition is fine. 50% of the original blue finish remains. The markings are clear and legible. The checkered walnut grips are in great shape. The bore is in excellent condition: bright with sharp rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a sharp RIC 83 by Webley!
