Description:
This rare 1968 Perazzi SHO type 1 O/U sidelock live pigeon/game gun is the same gun that Ivo Fabbri split off from Daniele Perazzi to go and build himself. It is a handbuilt H & H pattern sidelock with magnificent tight English bouquet & scroll hand engraving fully covering the receiver and locks with carved vines on fences. A carved gargoyle forms the top-lever.  The attention to detail is impressive.   Purdey style hand-carved "button top" safety and hand filed & matted top vent rib.
The Perazzi/Fabbri designed single non-selective trigger is wonderfully crisp.
This dynamic handling gun is near new, 99% original condition with 28 1/2 inch barrels, choked .024 (tight modified) bottom and xtra-full .042 in top. At 7 lbs 14 ounces the balance is superb & between the hands as it should be - 14 1/2 inch LOP x 1 3/8 DAC and 2 1/8 DAH. English straight grip and English style field forearm and the wood and checkering are every bit as fine as you expect on this gun.

They don't make hand built guns like this any more, unless you buy a Fabbri, Desanzani or Bertuzzi, even Purdey and H & H do not use as much handwork as these guns took to build (the locks are gold plated internally including pins), they are magnificent to use and own.

It has been shot very little and is very tight, and most suitable for live pigeon (box birds or columbaire), game or sporting clays.  This gun (SN 5423) is confirmed in Karl Lippard's book as a Gran Premio in 1968 SN range. Armi Perazzi serial numbers start at 5308 in 1965 and none are recorded in the records until SN 5331- all the guns with 5xxx serial numbers are sidelock guns. Between 3 and 5 guns were produced per year in the late 1960s and 1970s dwindling to one every other year or two in the 1980s and production ceased due to cost and skills required when the last SHO type 1 was built in 1983. A totally custom type 2 SHO could be ordered between 1983-1993.
An historic, beautiful gun built to the highest standards. From the Peterson collection.
