Description:
For sale, a very-scarce minty and unfired American Western Arms Model 1873 Peacekeeper single action revolver with a 4" inch barrel, a factory nickel finish, and chambered in .45 Long Colt.  This is one of the nicest copies of the Colt Single Action revolver we have handled in many years.  The action on this gun is absolutely amazing; butter smooth, very light, and precisely "in time".  The lid of the original box says "Factory Tuned" and they are not lying, whomever tuned this revolver did a superb job.  We have rarely encountered these American Western Arms revolvers because they were made for only a short time between 1999 and 2003, with only about 2000 revolvers made.  Apparently the "Peacekeeper" name (Colt made a double-action revolver called the Peacekeeper) and the checkered black grips were too much for Colt to handle, and American Western Arms was sued out of business by the Colt firm for "Trade Dress" infringement.  Because the American Western guns that were already on the market proved to be exceptionally accurate, well-made, and reliable, it seems that most of the guns in circulation were bought up and shot excessively by Cowboy Action shooters.  Finding another 4" gun in .45 Colt that is unfired and minty like this one for sale would be extremely difficult.  As mentioned before, this gun is like-new and has a near perfect factory nickel finish rating 99%.  The only thing we could find worthy of a 1% deduction is the very faint drag line around the cylinder from working the action.  The bore in the 4" inch barrel is mirror-bright and perfect, with nice sharp rifling and no visible imperfections whatsoever.  The 6 cylinder bores are equally as pristine and perfect.  The factory checkered black plastic grips are in perfect like-new condition, and both sides are numbered to the gun on the inside.  Both grips feature an American-style eagle and a running horse, very similar in style to the factory Colt "Eagle" grips used from 1882 to 1891, and then again in 1976 in the Colt 3rd Gen guns.  The 4-click action is exceptional on this gun, and really has to be felt to truly be appreciated.  Whether you work it fast or slow it is perfectly "in time" and locks up tight with no slop in the cylinder.  The trigger is very good as well, breaking with a light pull without excessive travel.  All of the controls are in perfect working order and feel crisp like it left the factory yesterday.  All 3 hammer positions are intact and feel solid.  This Model 1873 Peacekeeper should perform perfectly if the new owner so chooses.  This American Western Arms Peacekeeper comes complete with it's original box, owner's manual, and factory lock.  If you have been looking for an affordable single action revolver for your collection that you can be proud of, this nickel Model 1873 Peacekeeper would be an excellent choice.  It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this example.
