Rare 1881 LINCOLN/GARFIELD Revolver by CS SHATTUCK
1 of 3000 Commemorating 2 Assassinated Presidents!
Here we present an antique C. S. Shattuck Swing Out Pocket Revolver Commemorating Two Assassinated Presidents: Lincoln (1865) and Garfield (1881), made circa 1881 in Hatfield, Massachusetts. This little revolver features a neat, unique swing-out cylinder. Pressing the button behind the right recoil shield frees the cylinder arbor to pivot with the entire cylinder. The octagonal barrel has a front blade sight and a notch rear sight. The left side of the barrel reads “C.S. Shattuck Hatfield, Mass”. The left side of the casehardened frame reads “Pat Nov 4, 1879”. The hard rubber grips are monogrammed and have President Lincoln and President Garfield on them. These presidents were both Republicans and both were assassinated during their time in office. According to Flayderman, “There is an estimate of a few thousand total production” of this revolver.
The overall condition is fine. The original nickel finish is 95% with some visible case colors. The markings are clear. The presidential grips are in fine shape. The bore is dark with sharp rifling. The action is excellent.
